[...] As we discussed in our original review of Emotiv, the EPOC headset may not make it as a video game controller. Sure, being able to lift an object with the power of your mind sounds cool, but the reality looks difficult and unwieldy. I’m not sure I would spend $300 on it. Sharing my facial expressions through online avatars is only somewhat appealing, and having a virtual landscape that adjusts to my emotions seems like a recipe for disaster. Also, at the $300 level you can only use the headset with approved software applications, which are very limited at this point. Bottom line, I’m much more impressed that the EPOC system can perform all these video game tasks than I am with the game applications themselves. [...]

I'd like to do some software development with this stuff... looks like $500 at minimum =(

If I *knew* it actually worked then I might go for it... so for now I think I'll wait to see what kinds of things the 'professionals' create.

If I can't even make a game character walk around on a 3D plane, forget it. I'll wait till the next generation or the one after.

I agree that the headset is nice to have because of its novelty, but I do not think I would want to use that for hardcores games. It might not be accurate and fast enough for intense raids.

I am eager to have one for the fun factor only. But the $300 price tag seems too crazy.

This headset has been 'around' for a while, but unavailable. From what I've heard/read, it's not been ready for prime time long enough that many believe it's not got the mojo to live up the hype. Personally, I'm eager to get my hands on one (I added my name to the waiting list that's on the company website) and put it through its paces in the lab.
