I'm glad I was not the only one noticing the swagger and female gait :)
But seriously if you look closely I feel like it was designed more with a male gait. The suit looks to provide for deviation, but the woman seems restricted while the men look to be unimpeded.
Also did you sense that they were a little timid when they got to the stairs... like perhaps they've had bad experiences with those before.
I too would love to see more practical videos demonstrating the increase strength factor. You would think that would be the first video: man lifting a car over his head.

Cyborangutan? That's about worth 20K just to see.

The exos in the video did all look the same, and the girl definitely got more swing out of it than the guys, so I guess their technology really is that cool.

Now, if they combine these HAL suits with the Segway balance system, and then strap you on a pair of those powerbockers ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerbocking )... oh man.

@robot makes music
You make a good point about male/female physiology. As far as I can tell, the woman in the video is the first female person to be shown in the exoskeleton, and she seems to be handling it just as well as the men.

Now, with biosensors that can read motor neurons, and actuators that have many degrees of freedom, my guess is that you could hook up HAL to an orangutan and still get it to work. But I'm sure Cyberdyne will work out a solution if that's not the case.

Surely on your ginormous blogger salary you could afford to just buy one of these puppies? :D

I wonder, though, do they have a different model for the feminine form, since girls hips swing differently, or is the suit just *that* good, and will accommodate a male or female gait?

It's kinda sad that Japan's on the decline again, economically, otherwise this technology might be easier to bring to market. Still, even if it doesn't make a commercial success, it's a technological marvel and success that will surely pave the way for us to merge with our future robotic overlords.
