I've owned the Optoma with 420x320 resolution and it sucks. Not bright enough. I ended up buying the AAXA P2 projector - it's bigger, bulkier, and noisier but at least now I can see what I'm projecting and at 800x600 even!

This information is not very accurate- All of the projectors listed fall into the low-mid 10's lumens output and retail in the $199-$399 price range- I noticed AAXA Technologies P2 Pico Projectors is not listed in the article- Im not sure why its the same compact/ hand held form factor but delivers an output of 33 Lumens over twice what these projectors output and the cost is only $349

Actually, I have used the DLP pico (Optoma). It's simple. It works and it looks great. Just because DLP can be used for tvs, big projectors and cinema, doesn't mean that it's not also a great fit for pico. I think the market, and manufacturers agree. And who is microvision anyway? At least TI has a track record.

TI's DLP was never designed to be a pico projector engine and is not suited for this application - DLP is looking for a new application after being driven out of the big screen TV market. Microvision's scanning engine has too many advantages over DLP and LCOS chip designs and will be the 'kool' projector tech to have - the handset makers will have to adopt Microvision's tech for cell phones or be characterized as second rate and cheap...

"Shear"? That's what you do to a sheep. I think you mean "sheer". Anyway, Microvision can't compete fiercely yet because its pico-projector isn't even on the market yet. But watch out when it does, 3 to 6 months from now, if not sooner. Who's gonna compete with a laser based projector that doesn't need focussing, even on irregular or curved surfaces? Looking forward to Microvision's debut on the world stage.
