Facebook already auto-filters in the default “News Feed.” You have to specifically request the “live feed,” which gives you the firehose.

I liked the auto follow feature. There’s also good privacy features like you can share a photo publicly or privately. The other features are just copied from other social networking sites. Let’s see what happens!

Interesting, thank you for an articulate article. I haven't watched the presentation yet, so I'm not sure if Google Buzz offers anything I'm particularly interested in over say, Digsby, but it's definitely given me something to think about.

True, Facebook does have privacy/sharing settings. I think what Google Buzz is trying to do though is take those settings to a whole new level of ease and flexibility.

Protip: You can tell Facebook to hide messages from specific apps or friends that you don't want to see in your news feed.
