I would never want a pico projector on my phone. I like this no frills pico projector from Ray Displays. The bulkiness of this pico phone makes me want to keep my phone and projector completely separate. I think the idea has potential but currently has the appeal of the first generation camera phones.

Seems like the LG pico projector wasn't such a big hit - but the AAXA L1 laser projector was a lot better (although quite expensive). At least the NYTimes thought so:

Use pico projectors for the pattern projection part of 3D Structured Light Scanners.

I'm definitely hopeful that we can have great quality wearable headsets in the future, the issue is always going to be getting the eyes to comfortably focus on an image that is so close.

Smaller displays is bad? Maybe in the current format – but watch what happens if two HD displays can be fit on a postage stamp – you'll have a pretty amazing 3D-HD weareable headset soon after.
