I think Mistry is doing this for much cheaper though ($20 versus several hundred). In any case, there's clearly a lot of potential in the IR Laser/camera/computer vision setup. Not really practical for mobile use unless you add some sort of auto-calibration system. Even then the requirement for the surface to be flat means you'll pretty much only be able to use it in places where you have a flat desk, and so you could have just used a portable mouse.
