Serious science is great, but sometimes you just have to let your creative juices flow and see what you can dream up. That's the appeal of the Concept Robots Blog, started by artist Igor Tkac, which regularly features original robot-themed art. Since it began in 2008, the Concept Robot Blog has seen just about every iteration of mechanical minion, though most are distinctly humanoid in their appearance. Artists could be exploring how robots could fit in with humanity, they could seriously question the prevalence of military drones, or they might just provide a fun take on lovable bots. In our continuing look into the growing robot culture, I thought I would share with you some of the cooler looking finds that the Concept Robot Blog has brought to light. Some of these will make you think, others are included simply because they look badass. Enjoy.

To start us off, here's a conceptual look at Boston Dynamic's Big Dog, a real life robot being developed as a mechanical pack mule for the military. Artist Ben Maura seems to have bigger plans for the bot.
